our summer vacation to destin was a much needed time away from memphis for ALL of us. as usual, we had a relaxing and DRY week. it started out threatening rain for the whole week, although we didn't care. any place but memphis... we arrived on sunday to a pretty bad storm, but ended the day with a beautiful rainbow. never saw a drop of rain again.

my little girl...not so little anymore

taegan turned 13 on May 14th. it seems impossible that she could really be a teenager. she is eye to eye with me in height and wears a larger shoe size. so sad!!

Vulcan Cup Champs! Birmingham, AL

we had a fabulous weekend of soccer in birmingham with taegan's midsouth team. the weather was perfect, and we ended up as the champions! our third game reslted in a pk shootout because we were tied with another team in our bracket. only one team could advance to the finals...good thing it was us! pk shootouts are always stressful. the finals also resulted in a tie so we were sent into a double overtime. still no score after the OT, so we went straight into ANOTHER round of pk's. i think we all gained a few gray hairs after this day! as you can see from the photo, we were the victors!! the girls deserved this medal. our coach has refrained from entering us into the vulcan cup until now because she didn't think we were ready. competition is quite high at this tournament. the girls decided that they weren't just "ready"...they were "ready to win!"

our team dinner on saturday night was very special! curry's grandparents live in birmingham a few minutes from our hotel. they invited the whole team to have dinner at their house. yes, they live in a large home. it easily accommodated us with room to spare!!

this is a picture of taegan's eye taken by her friend, payton. it's oddly beautiful! she doesn't typically wear mascara to this extent, but when you get together with girlfriends..i guess it's to be expected.

nat'l jr. honor society induction!

after a long weekend of tournament games, manuel managed to squeeze in a very prestigous event. he was inducted into the national jr. honor society at harding. we are so proud of his hard work, academic dedication, and accomplishments. he was also voted as a class leader by his peers earlier this year!

my parents are the best! they scooped up manny from the soccer fields after his games so he could shower and change for the ceremony. chris and i were spread thin this weekend with taegan and cooper. i couldn't raise three kids without my parents...they love manny like he's one of their own.

midsouth challenge 2012 champs!

taegan played all weekend in goal. she offered to play as goalie so our actual goalie could play in the field for this tournament. the plan worked well...they walked away with the 1st place medal!!

last weekend the girls played in a tournamemt that ended in a rainout. traveling out of town is always a lot of fun...despite unfortunate weather conditions.
